Deadlock release date and status

There is no release date. On 28 October 2026 Steam still returned coming_soon true and the date string “To be announced.”

I re-fetched the US English appdetails response before writing this page. The release object had not gained a calendar date, and the store still had no user reviews because the game is not on sale.

What is confirmed today

Developer and publisher are Valve. The game is a 6v6 third-person shooter with MOBA lanes, on Source 2, set in an alternate New York the wiki calls the Cursed Apple. Those genre facts come from Wikipedia and the wiki, not from a store genre tag we should over-read.

The latest major update is City Never Sleeps on 29 September 2026, followed by balance patches on 5 and 14 October. Valve says Ranked Beta Season 1 ends on Thursday 5 November 2026 at 2pm Pacific, and the next season starts immediately after.

Deadlock has been an invite-only playtest the whole time, so there is no beta launch day to point at. These are the dated milestones, not a release schedule.

When will Deadlock release?

Valve has not announced a date. Do not trust a 2027 claim that is not on the store page.

Is it still in beta?

It is an invite-only playtest in early development. Steam does not call the public build released.

When did the playtest start?

The wiki dates the first documented hero releases to 24 April 2024. That is a playtest milestone, not a launch.
