Deadlock Mod Manager

Version 2.2.0, released on 25 October 2026 and listed on deadlockmods.app, copies mod .vpk files into the addons folder, writes a backup, and re-applies the gameinfo.gi search path when you press Launch modded.

I did not call the app safe. It is open source, which means you can read it, not that someone has audited it for this guide. Linux packages are described by the project as best-effort.

What changed in 2.2.0

Version 2.2.0 followed 2.1.1 (21 October 2026) by four days. These are the user-facing changes in the maintainers’ release notes. A 2.3.0 nightly dated 26 October is a pre-release, not the stable build.

Backups are under Settings → Backups, where you can create or restore an addons backup and set automatic backups. gameinfo.gi validation, backup, restore and reset are under Settings → Game.

  • A redesigned Stats page, with a page for each match.
  • 3D mod previews with animations, cloth and effects, labelled work in progress.
  • GameBanana Remote Install: queue a mod on your phone and it installs on your PC.
  • Cloud profile backup, so you can restore a mod profile on another PC.
  • A one-button fix for outdated mods that shows each step.
  • The autoexec launch option is gone, because Deadlock already runs autoexec.cfg itself. Custom crosshairs are no longer written to autoexec.cfg.
  • Fixes for a Windows start-up error about a missing MSVCP140.dll, a Mods Store freeze on Linux, and downloads that stalled after a reload.

Failures the project already names

Documented problems include a reset gameinfo.gi, HUD mods that break after a patch, two mods writing the same files, a stuck download, and “Access is denied (os error 5).”

  • Prefer Launch modded so the search path is rewritten.
  • Use the one-click restore if the game will not boot.
  • Launch vanilla when you want a clean client.
  • Read the install page before you mix manual vpks with the app.

Questions

What systems does it support?

Windows and Linux. Linux is listed as limited, with APT, deb, RPM, Flatpak, AUR and nixpkgs packages named by the project.

What is it built with?

The docs say Tauri v2, React and TypeScript, with a Bun and Hono backend.

Why did my mods vanish?

The project’s own repair guide says launching from Steam instead of Launch modded can skip the gameinfo.gi edit. See the not-working page.
