Deadlock mods not working

The manager’s own repair article is the source for this page. A patch often restores Valve’s gameinfo.gi, and the addons folder stops being on the search path until you launch modded again.

These checks follow the manager project troubleshooting guide. Restore or launch vanilla before testing changes, and avoid changing several mods at once.

Symptom to fix

Optimization mods are a separate risk. They modify game files too; search popularity is not evidence of safety or performance. If the game crashes, remove the newest vpk first.

Questions

I launched from Steam and the mods vanished.

The article says Steam can skip the gameinfo.gi rewrite. Use Launch modded in the manager.

What is os error 5?

“Access is denied.” The project lists it as a known failure, associated with read-only gameinfo.gi or addons files. Check their Properties; the project reserves its administrator workaround for removing mods previously installed with elevated permissions.

The HUD looks broken.

HUD and UI mods can conflict with changed interface files after a patch. Disable them, check for updates and re-enable them individually.
