Are Deadlock mods safe?
Valve has not published a policy that permits mods, so nobody can promise that a mod is allowed. What exists is a community record: cosmetic changes are widely used, and a July 2026 roundup could not find a confirmed ban.
I read the Steam thread where people ask the same question and still do not get a Valve employee answer. I would rather leave the page on “unknown, your account” than invent a green light.

What “no confirmed ban” means
DeadlockSkins published that reading on 30 July 2026. The Steam discussion “Can using mods that change the appearance get me banned?” is the player-side version of the same gap. Neither is a policy.
Anti-cheat behaviour for these files is undocumented. Do not add a VAC claim this page cannot cite.
Questions
Will I get banned?
Not confirmed in the sources we checked, and not ruled out. No enforcement guarantee follows from these sources.
Are gameplay mods different from skins?
The discussion is mostly about appearance swaps. A mod that changes how the match works is a different risk, and it is also undocumented.
Can the file itself be malicious?
Yes. Download from GameBanana or the manager’s listed partners, and scan the archive. We have not audited individual mods.
